Q: Are there discounts available?

Q: Do you have a map to help us with driving directions?
A:

Q: Is there a Program Orientation Guide?
A:
Yes, a Program Orientation Guide (POG) will be available on the web site. The POG includes everything you need to know to get ready for SVA.

Q: How do most students and parents rate Space Voyage?
A: "
Great!"... "Terrific !!"... "Five stars." ... "Better than any camp I've gone to." ..."When can I do this again?"… "The instructors are great!" "Doc knows how to make learning fun."… "Eleven on a ten point scale." More than 50% of participating students return from one summer to the next.

Q: What is the instructor to student ratio?
A
: We plan on having a 1:8 staff to child ratio at Space Voyage Academy.

Q: How are the students grouped?
A:
Students self-select the group they wish to work with. Some groups have 4 students, others 3. Grouping is more along the lines of ability than age, with consideration given to grouping students on the same level together.

Q: Is Space Voyage Academy for all kids?
A:
Space Voyage Academy is an immersion program for motivated students who have interest in space. Students from all backgrounds and learning styles do well at the academy.
Q: Can I complete more than one level during a session?
A:
Yes, but typically allow one week to complete Level 1 or  Level 2. Level 3 and above may take more than one week, and can be continued from academy program week to another.   

Q: How can I become an Instructor  at SVA?
A:
Any student who has completed Cadet Level 4 is eligible to apply to be a Student Instructor Apprentice (SIA).  Upon completion of your apprenticeship you are certified as an instructor and can become a paid staff member. Instructors demonstrate the knowledge, skill, confidence, maturity and strength of character necessary to help make the program successful.

Q: How can I become a Camp Counselor or Staff Member at Space Voyage Academy?
A: High school and college students
interested in a fun-filled summer job as a SVA Camp Counselor can apply through the Space Voyage web site. Visit the Instructor and Leader area of the Space Voyage web site. Review the Online Leadership Guide for SVA for details. SVA Camp Counselors are certified through our training program to insure quality.

Q: Are car pool lists updated to include last minute sign-ups?
A:
Yes, we will update the information. E-mail us to let us to request this information. Car pool lists are limited to those requesting car pool information on the registration form.  Be sure to tell us your child's name and session attending. We'll e-mail you the list.

Q. What time does the camp start and end each day?
A: 
Arrive at 7:30 am and depart by 3:50 pm. Camps starts at 8:00 am, with early arrival welcome at 7:30 am.  The final briefing of the day occurs at 3:20 pm with the program day ending at 3:30 pm. Parents are welcome to attend the 3:20 pm final briefing. From 3:30 pm until 3:50 pm students are supervised and can use the "play hard" areas of the pavilion. Please make arrangements for prompt pick up no later than 3:50 pm since we have to be out of the building by 4:00 pm each day. Parents needing to drop off earlier than 7:30 am should call to make arrangements.

Q: Can my child attend all summer?
A:
This summer, Space Voyage Academy offers eight weeks from which to choose. We limit the number of weeks a student can attend in one summer to four (4) program weeks. Exceptions may be made for students in Level 3 and above and for Instructor Apprentices. If you have questions, please contact us.

Q: How big is the Space Voyage pavilion?
How much equipment do you use there?
A:
The pavilion space for this summer is a minimum of 5,000 square feet. We typically set up 24 flight decks, a lunch area, play hard area, orbital construction pod grid (30 x 50 ft.), art center, space library, camp store, and 3-8 lab pack activities depending on the day and interests of the students. The Space Voyage pavilion contains hundreds of hand-on, minds on activities; so we're ready for a fun day every day!! Our activities focus on shuttle and space station, piloting skills, teamwork, communication and problem solving skills.
